Franchini Agricola
WITH LOVE AND PASSION
The Franchini family's estates extend over 9 hectares, about 5 of which are vineyards located at an altitude ranging from 280 to almost 500 metres above sea level. All pruning and harvesting is carried out manually and following the traditions of Valpolicella Classica. The company is a member of FIVI - Italy's independent Winegrowers and CERVIM Heroic Viticulture.
In recent years, Giuliano Franchini has dedicated himself with love and passion to his land and the ancient family art: wine. A passion that stems from the times of Giuliano's great-grandfather, Emlio Franchini.
The historic house and cellar of Corte Forlago, built around 1460 and recently renovated thanks to Giuliano, now houses the cooperage and a wine shop.
The old Corte also contains a perfectly preserved old icehouse (ghiacciaia), the most spectacular spot in the cellar. Today the fascinating icehouse contains a private collection of the Franchini family's oldest vintages of Amarone.
The Franchini winery also boasts participation in an important archeological project to enhance the Valpolicella territory, that of the rediscovery of the Roman Villa in Negrar, with its precious mosaic floors dating back to the III century AD.
